This is How We Do

Very good times last night on Daly Street in Lincoln Heights… I love it when friends and comrades can dress up, get together and let go – this has been a crazy year so far, and we need to remember that celebrating ourselves is a beautiful form of resistance. Good music (DJ playing everything from cumbias to rap), good food (tostadas) and good drink (agua de jamaica and home-made mixed drinks). My favorites were the mystery ghosts who ran around spooking everyone (Lorena and Jose win points for best couple for this one, too)… Dang, I can’t wait for Dia de los Muertos – celebrating our fallen ones is a form of resistance too.
